A Hard Reality Check

I'm an older martial arts student who added a new art to his repertoire within just the last few years – aikijujutsu. After an all day seminar this last summer held by the head of our visiting Japanese aikijujutsu system, I was in the men's locker room talking to other seminar participants. We had all been somewhat mesmerized by the teacher and his spectacular, almost magical techniques.

After a lot of talk, I turned to one of my friends in the class and asked, "How long do you think it will take before I can ever be that good?"

My friend looked me straight in the eyes, hesitated just a second and replied, "You're going to die first."
